BIO
Born March 29, 1998, in Nogent-sur-Marne, France, Rayan Rbity is a French artist of Tunisian and Moroccan origin. Trained initially in academic drawing, he later turned to painting as his primary discipline. He works primarily in oil, pastels and charcoal on canvas, mediums through which he foregrounds the physical gesture and the materiality of texture.
His practice intertwines the legacy of antiquity with deeply personal visions, producing works that question the memory of bodies and the fragility of humanity. Drawing inspiration from both parietal art and classical references, his compositions engage with enduring archetypes. Through this approach, he seeks to create a space of reflection on the often-blurred boundary between the human and the monstrous. Themes of bestiality, heroism, and fatality emerge in his exploration of myth, resulting in compositions that oscillate between the primitive and the dreamlike.
Raised within a multiplicity of cultural influences, Rayan Rbity integrates these diverse references into his visual language. Based in Paris since his artistic training, he continues to develop a body of work that reflects a commitment to reinterpreting ancient narratives through a distinctly modern sensibility.
